The Pyramid of the Sun, Teotihuacan, Mexico
The Teotihuacan civilization in the central valley of Mexico
began
in 200 B. C. It is estimated that at its maximum Teotihuacan
contained
more than 100,000 people, and its influence was felt as far
away as Copan
in Honduras. Scholars estimate that it took 10,000 workers
20 years to erect
the 12-square-mile site that includes the Pyramid of the Sun
(700 ft. wide,
215 ft. high).
