  1. Diagram each of the following sentences:
    1. We heard the university is cancelling all exams for the rest of the semester.
    2. The frog asked whether the young girl would kiss him.
    3. Honestly, they might have preferred for the media to ignore their activities.
    4. For a fish to have a pet would be wierd.
    5. She is afraid that her feet are growing larger.
    6. The singer must face the fact that he will not hit that high note.
    7. That the squeaky wheel will get the grease is well-known.
    8. The librarian had a secret fear that his brain might be getting full.
    9. Living in a tree would not be fun.
    10. After we left, someone turned off the lights.
    11. The apple fell to the ground without making a sound when the winds started blowing.
    12. Many customers informed the chef that the food was bland and overcooked.

One of the following sentences is an extraposition (E), one has an extrposition as part of it (EI), one is an ordinary sentence with a meaningful "it" pronoun (O), and one has a "filler-it" like the extraposition but is a different type of transformed sentence that we have not yet named (X).
