Here are some examples of web pages with interactive elements.

• An immigration lawyer's home page. Check out his interactive questionnaire.
• Check out the Web Problem Solver's Page. Be sure to link to the Evaluate this Page! form.
• Finally, a basic type of interation is the Mailto: function. Check out Dr. Wright's home page. Notice my mailto option.

Database Stage

There are several examples of sites that make extensive use of databases. Here are just a few examples. Go to In Class Exercise #1. Then come back and check out these sites.

Advanced Repository Stage

In this stage, information is constantly changing and updated. Two strategies: human intervention required and no human intervention required.

Human Intervention Required
Human intervention is required to keep the site up to date.

• CNN
• ESPNET SportsZone
• Federal Express
• J.B. Hunt

A second strategy does not involve human intervention. Sites are automatically updated.

• Netscape's Fish tank
• E-mail discussion list archives. In some instances, e-mail messages are automatically archived for later retrieval. The Cougar-Net discussion list I run does this. Check out the Cougar-Net archives which are saved in Gopher format.
• E-mail to HTML: check out the Internet marketing archives.
• Random changes to home pages. Check out the IBM home page. The third lead story is randomly rotated. Reload the page, and a different third story appears.

Advanced Interactive Stage

Advanced Interactive Strategies automate the process of responding to a visitor's query.

• Infobots. Try a couple of these infobots and see what information you get (make sure you set your e-mail settings in Netscape):

• Intelligent Search Software. This allows you to query a database using plain English. Check out the Lotus Support Knowledge Database.

• World's Chat Interactive Virtual 3-D Environment (free demo version of the software is available).
