MKTG 380 Home Page

As with all my pages, this page is continually under construction.

This page contains some essential information about the MKTG 380 Marketing on the Internet Team Project.

MKTG 380 assumes that you are at least marginally familiar with the World Wide Web (if you are not sure what the World Wide Web is, follow this link) and that you have experience surfing the Web. In this course, you will need to move beyond surfing and begin to learn how to write your own web pages.

There are several Hyper Text Markup Language (or HTML) tutorials available on the web that are basically self-explanatory. If no one in your work group is familiar with HTML programming, perhaps you should start here. One particularly good tutorial is Carlos Benevante's Beginners Guide to HTML.

Of course, if you have any serious programming problems with HTML, you can always contact the JMU Help Desk.

Publish your own web page on the JMU Falcon server!

This server enables individual users of the falcon system to make World-Wide Web files in their unix account accessible to any Internet user. If a student has created a home page, it can be referenced by a URL of the form http://falcon.jmu.edu/~userid/. For example if J. Robert Smith's userid is smith1jr, then the URL http://falcon.jmu.edu/~smith1jr/ will access his homepage.

For technical information on how to publish your own web pages, go to the falcon information page.

As you surf the web, you may run into sites that you want to include in your marketing plan. You all know how to cite books and articles, but how do you cite material you have found on the World Wide Web? Listed below are several sources.

Are you interested in learning more about Marketing on the Internet? Several sites are listed below that contain relevant information on this subject.

How do you pay for purchases you make on the Internet? Should you call up a 1-800 number? Is it safe to give your credit card number to merchants online? Are there any alternative methods of payment? Check out the following links for answers to some of these questions.
