Research/Professional Activities
Professor Derry teaches history and theory of mass communications, with an emphasis on international issues, and serves as the director of graduate study in the Department of Communication. He is currently secretary/treasurer of the Research Committee on Populations of the International Sociological Association and has worked as a consultant to the School of Mass Communication, University of Costra Rica, on projects funded by the United States Information Agency. He is co-author of four computer systems and technical books, plus articles and papers dealing with the assessment of education and training. He has conducted seminars and workshops on evaluation at more than seventy colleges, unive rsities, and professional societies for projects sponsored in part by Lilly Endowment and the National Association of Higher Education.
