Typical week outline: A CANVAS module will be supplied for each week. This will often include one or more required short videos to watch BEFORE class. WEBASSIGN assignments should be completed as much as possible in the designated week, but will typically have their final due date on the following Monday to allow for final completion of remaining questions.
Videos before class: This shifts your time commitment a bit, but should not add to it. Videos will be pretty short, briefly (we hope) introducing new or new-ish material. During the video it may be helpful from time to time to go back and view something a second time, or stop and take a look at the text when something is not clear. This will cut down on class time spent on (usually "snoozy") lectures. Thus, in addition to going over some of your questions, more class time will be spent with you working problems (often together), and the following individual homework will be correspondingly shorter than it normally might be, since you have then already completed some work with the necessary concepts. Admittedly, this plan comes as an attempt to preserve some of the few good things from the chaotic previous year. Working remotely then was a pain, but we did get that some basic things can be done remotely, so perhaps we can use that to spend more class time on actual activities. This does not work unless you are actually doing the pre-class preparation - if that does not happen, we will need to switch back to more conventionial "lectures." Note that there are course points associated with the videos.
