Instructions:(This will be graded only as an acceptable or unacceptable effort.)

• For each of the two poems you are reading for 2/1/18, select just TWO words (or very small expressions) that stand out as surprising, as used in an unusual way, as particularly beautiful, etc. (more generally as a "marked" word choice). For all four choices, attempt to explain why you think they stood out AND take a stab at considering why the poet might have chosen them! (FYI, one good way to draw your attention to very marked word choices is to try reading the poem aloud to yourself slowly. :) )
