INTRODUCTION TO LINGUISTICS - OPTIONAL EXTRA CREDIT ON FINAL EXAM James Madison University

Due no later than with your final exam. This work is worth five points extra credit on the final exam.(NOTE: If you have already done the speaker event and write up as your extra credit option, than doing this option too will NOT earn you additional extra credit.) Please follow the instructions carefully.

First, go to the website called Language Log at The University of Pennsylvania and expand the "Categories" menu that is near the bottom of the information in the right side margin. Then choose two weblogs from two different categories to read. They should be reasonably substantial entities (more than just a paragraph or two). Then, for each of your choices, write up a two to three paragraph summary that shows clearly that you have read the full weblog and have considered how it fits into its content category. Make sure too to give a clear reference for each weblog, using the citation style of your choice. (There is a link at the bottom of this page to style manuals and examples.)
