  1. List at least 5 content words in English (other than those examples mentioned in your text or in other such references) that you believe to be monomorphemic, including at least two that are multisyllabic.
  2. List at least 5 content words in English that you believe to be polymorphemic, including at least two that are monosyllabic.
  3. First find all the morphemes in each of the words below and determine what morphem is the root morpheme for each. Then,for just words a,b, and c, attempt to draw tree diagrams representing the morphological derivation of each (i.e., think carefully about the order in which these morphemes must be combined based on the intended meaning of the final word and the grammatical characteristics of the individual morphemes):
    1. glorious
    2. fashionably
    3. prewashed
    4. inconceivably
    5. distrustfulness
    6. meaningful (Notice what's unusual about this one? :) )

  4. Try to think of an example of a word that is morphologically marked as a verb but also used as a noun and another that is morphologically marked as a noun but also used as a verb.
