  1. Map each syllable in the following three words into their syllable structure (ie. its onset -- when applicable, its nucleus, and its coda - when applicable):
    free, unclaimed, prescreening.
    (Remember that syllable structure is based on sound, not spelling!)
  2. Ask your parents (or any older adults you know well) what expressions, if any, they hear you use that they do not use.
  3. Ask any two friends what their favorite native English dialect is, if any.
  4. List at least one word or expression from your own dialect that you know is not used by all American English speakers.
  5. List at least one word or expression that you know some English speakers use but that you don't use.
