  1. First, using the same rules as from the previous assignment, draw phrase structure trees (tree diagrams) for these three additional sentences:
    1. The clowns seem unhappy.
    2. Our new neighbor is an alien (note: "our" and "an" are determiners)
    3. The man in the moon waved.
  2. In the discussion of truth-conditional semantics at the start of chapter 5, what word is introduced to describe sentences like "When everything is said or done, there's nothing left to say or do."
  3. Do Exercise 2 (but just examples a through k) at the back of Chapter 4.
  4. Do just examples a, b, h, and i, of Part One of Exercise 5 at the back of Chapter 4.
