- What does it mean when we say that certain consonants are sometimes "syllabic?" (See p. 210) How can we mark this in a phonetic transcription?
- What three features vary in a stressed syllable in English?
- Give an example of two words in English that would be hononyms if they didn't have different word stress. (Hint: think verb meaning versus noun meaning. :) ) (p. 211
- Is English a "tone language?" (p. 212)
