  1. Re-read Emery Lesson Eleven carefully and then diagram sentences 1, 5-9, 12-13, and 16-17, 19 on p. 61
  2. Also diagram this sentence (which has -- among other things! -- an infinitive phrase used absolutely): "To be honest, I did kill the butler after trying unsuccessfully to find a professional hitman working in the area."
  3. A FIRST ATTEMPT AT SOME SPECIAL TYPES OF INFINITIVES -- phrasal auxiliaries that make infinitives part of the verb phrase, infinitives with subjects, infinitives introduced by the subordinate conjunction "for", and so-called "simple" infinitives with subjects -- as discussed in Emery Lesson 12. Working closely with the information in lesson 12, attempt to diagram just exercises 1-4...
