For the morphemes below, identify the following characteristics (where applicable): root vs. affix, free vs bound; then also attempt to identify these additional characteristics (where applicable) based on the discussion of these characteristics in our textbook: grammatical vs. lexical, and inflectional vs. derivational.

    4. {pencil} (the noun)

  3. Consider the following data from Dozoff, a language spoken only in the JMU Libraries:
    togpozz 'big party' drupozz 'long party'
    togruf 'big assignment' togrufin 'big assignments'

    1. List the five different morphemes in these Dozoff words and assign a meaning to each of them.
    2. Based on this data, how would you say 'long assignment' in Dozoff?
