Instructions: [This assignment will be marked only as an acceptable or unacceptable effort.]
- The following example contains either a subordinate conjunction or a discourse connective. Underline the relevant word and state which it is:
"I certainly will try to cook us something for dinner; however, I make no promises about the results."
Also, is this example one sentence or two sentences?
- What is the antecedent of the pronoun "her" in the following sentence?
My friend moved from Virginia to New York, but I still keep in touch with her. ________________
- While we haven't quite covered all pronoun subclasses, use your textbook to help and give Exercise 12 on p. 156 your best try with the following changes - find the possessive determiners as well as all pronouns and oter proforms and just do the identifications; you don't have to worry about all the antecedents!
- (Something else to try -- after reading the textbook discussion of quantifiers. Hint: quantifiers are sometimes more similar to pronouns and sometimes more similar to determiners...) Underline all the quantifiers in the following sentence:
All my friends' clovers had three leaves, but mine had four.
