Instructions: Diagram each of the sentences below.

- The gazelle was not running very quickly. (first use of the neg rule)
- A bee has flown into that girl's hat. (first use of the rule that turns an NP into a det when it is morphologically marked as possessive)
- The invading army's alarm dashed the local rebel's hopes.
- I called up my personal astrologist on Tuesday. (first use of the verb plus particle rule))
- The man and his dog ate meatloaf for many years. (need to use a rule for a conjunction of NPs)
- The teacher passed out the milk and cookies. (a conjunction of "N bars")
- Your attitude is truly irritating and completely foolish. ( a conjunction of ? :) )
- That group's representatives can accept the offer or negotiate better terms.
- You should take the high road, and I will take the low road.
- Your answer may work, but I dislike it.
- Birds eat worms and fly.
- While the President spoke, the lawyers doodled. (First uses of the rule for sconj and the one for adverbial clauses)
