  1. Do exercise 6 on page 130 in your text.
  2. Do just parts 1 and 2 of exercise 7 on page 131 in your text, but also give reasons for each of your answers. The also do the same for ALL the words in the following sentence:
    Undoubtedly, very expensive taste and empty pockets create money woes.
  3. Re-write the following two sentences as one sentence making use of a subordinate conjunction. Underline the subordinate conjunction.
    The lion spared the mouse's life. The mouse helped the lion escape.
  4. On page 142, Do exercise 9A with the following slight change in the instructions: in each example just label the italicized word, based on its use in that sentence, as a gerund, an adjective, or OTHER. (In other words, at this point in the semester, you don't need to be able to distinguish ordinary uses of verbs in sentences from special verbal "participle" uses.)
  5. One of the two sentences below contains the determiner "that", and the other contains the pronoun "that." Which is which?

  6. What is the third person singular masculine object pronoun in English? _________________
  7. What is the antecedent of the pronoun "her" in the following sentence?
