Requirements for ENG512E: Special Topic on English Linguistics

James Madison University

Graduate students in ENG512E, which is cross-listed with ENG418 English Linguistics, must fulfill all the requirements specified for undergraduates (see the link below for this semester's syllabus for ENG418). For graduate students, however, ungraded assignments will count for 3% of the course rather than 12% and critical summaries will count for 10%. Graduate students' research projects will be somewhat larger, will have a higher minimum number of sources, and will account for 30% of the final grade rather than 24%. (Graduate students should meet with me no later than shortly after the midterm to start thinking about their research project topics...) The remaining 5% will be based on an annotated bibliography for your research, which will be graded and must be submitted at least 9 days in advance of the research paper due date. These works will be evaluated on a graduate level.

All other details of the course, including textbook, topics, exams, etc. are the same as those for ENG418. Graduate students should refer to that syllabus for these details.
