Math 220, Fall 2024, Garren
(A) Change the random number seed to the last five digits of your student identification number. Include in your output a computer screenshot of the SPSS chart confirming that you changed the random number seed. Highlight your random number seed in GREEN.
(B) Using SPSS:
(1) In column #1, generate 15 random variates from a Normal( μ = 60, σ = 20 ) population.
(2) Label the variable as X1.
(3) Repeat parts B1 and B2 nine more times, except the nine additional sets of 15 numbers should be labeled as X2 through X10 and should be placed in columns 2 through 10. Using a computer screenshot, display these data (in your online output), which should be a 15 by 10 table.
(4) Use SPSS to determine an 80% confidence interval on the population mean ( μ ) for each of your 10 data sets.
(5) Highlight in YELLOW each confidence interval which contains the population mean μ = 60, and highlight in PINK each confidence interval which does NOT contain the population mean μ = 60. (Note: I am *NOT* asking you if your confidence intervals contain the sample mean, X. After all, the sample mean, X, is always in the middle of the confidence interval. I want to know if your confidence intervals contain μ = 60.) Display your results using a computer screenshot.
(6) Based on your answers to part B5, write the proportion (using Word, not SPSS) of your 80% confidence intervals which contain the population mean, μ = 60. Highlight this proportion in GREEN.

(C) Final format:
(1) Write your name and JMU email address at the top of your output.
(2) Although you are allowed to receive help from others, list in parentheses the names of those who helped you and the names of those whom you helped, as well as what type of help was given. If you did not give or receive help, then write "No help" next to your name.
(3) WARNING: Sharing ELECTRONIC copies of SPSS homework in part or in full is a university honor code violation.
(4) Turn in all appropriate output from SPSS in the order in which the exercises are assigned.
(5) Label your output as parts C1, C2, A, B3, B5, B6 in BLUE.
(6) Avoid losing points due to sloppiness: Do NOT include extra junk; e.g., unrequested tables from SPSS.
(7) Post your homework as ONLY ONE .pdf file to Canvas. Do NOT email me your homework.
