Fileserver Backup - Novell
How often are
the file servers backed up?
That depends on what you consider a backup. There
are basically two types of file server backups, Full & Incremental.
·
Full backups are made of every fileserver that
Network Services supports once a month. Usually near the first of the month. This
means that every file on every server is backed up to DAT tape and archived
every 30 days.
·
Incremental backups are run every night. An incremental
differs because they only backup files that have had changes made to them in
that 24 hour period.
So, if someone needs files restored from a
network drive you can almost guarantee recovery. If the file was accessed
during that workday before the incremental was run, and the user deleted or
corrupted the file during that workday, you cannot offer file restore services.
