finch.jmu.edu
This is the JMU webserver, known as the CWIS(Campus Wide
Information Service). JMU groups and organizations can put their webpages
up on finch, as well as JMU departnemts and services. User access to
finch is avaliable only through FTP. If a user telnets into finch, then
immediately after login they will be prompted to change their password,
and then the session will drop. New users will have their default
password emailed to them by the password group
pigeon.jmu.edu
This is JMU's news server. It pulls in usenet news feeds and makes them
avaliable to the JMU community. There is also a news-to-web gateway which
allows users to read and post to newsgropus via the web.
cuckoo.jmu.edu
The helpdesk machine. It runs most of our specialized helpdesk stuff,
including utils. Corperate time also runs on this box, as well as
remedy. Cuckoo is not a public system, access is restricted.
newleo.jmu.edu
The library's server. It runs the card catalog, and other on-line library
database resources.
raven.jmu.edu
Raven is a Open VMS/VAX host system. Accounts on this system are
avaliable to all students and faculty. It boasts many specialized
applications for departments such as math and the college of business.
kinglet.jmu.edu
This is a secure webserver that runs the accounts page. It is
responsible for providing the security
training quiz, and activating or changing an eID password. This same
box also hosts the ecampus web interface, under the hostname
ecampus.jmu.edu
roc.jmu.edu
JMU's mailserver. Access to this box via telnet is not avaliable for
most students and faculty. Changing email passwords must be done by using
the accounts page.
falcon.jmu.edu
Falcon is a HP-UX box. Accounts are avaliable to all students and
faculty. It has an apache webserver for hosting webpages, and many other
utilities.
