Resource Kit Tools

What is it & why do you need it?

The Resource Kit Tools are part of a utility that contains this nifty little GUI that will allow you to remap keys on your keyboard. I have needed this tool for one thing; a MacBook Pro that I partitioned and installed Windows XP on. The MBP does NOT have a delete key and you can't login to the CSM Domain without the ctrl/alt/del capapbility. Nuff said?

Problem: Apple has mapped the delete key to backspace, so there is no delete key! The solution is found by installing Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools, then after installing, go to Start: Run. Enter remapkey. A nice GUI utility pops up to let you remap keys on your keyboard. You can use it to remap the delete key. I recommend using the Right Windows key (Right Command on MacBook Pro keyboards). After saving, reboot and you’ll be able to use Ctrl-Alt-(Right Command) to do a Ctrl-Alt- Delete and logon to Windows domains and other useful things.
