Windows 95 Boot Disk w/CD-ROM Support

This is a self-extracting boot disk creator, which will create a boot diskette with generic cd-rom support. It will support most cd-rom drives on campus.

Windows 98 Boot Disk w/CD-ROM Support

Same as above, except with utilites and command files for Windows 98.

Dr. Solomon's Magic Bullet Boot Diskette

Extracts the Dr. Solomon boot diskette. This can be used to boot an infected computer and repair/remove any viruses. It is also a good idea to write-protect the disk once it has been created so no viruses can infect the disk.

Symantec Anti-Virus

The latest anti virus program site licensed for JMU. This version allows the user to turn off Real Time Protection, so you can troubleshoot the system easier and eliminate the virus software and a possible source of the God Damn problem!

Spybot Search & Destroy

Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if your browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware.

Ad Aware - Spy Removal tool - LavaSoft

Another really good anti-trackware solution. Run this after you run Spybot to really scour the computer and free the system registry of this obtrusive shit.

Restoration 2514

Restoration is an easy to use and straight forward tool to undelete files that were removed from the recycle bin or directly deleted from within Windows. Upon start, you can scan for all files that may be recovered and also limit the results by entering a search term or extension. In addition, it also provides the option to wipe the found files beyond simple recovery. The program is small and standalone, it does not require installation and can also run from a Floppy disk. Restoration works with FAT and NTFS as well as digital cameras cards.

Clean System Directory

A utility that will scan the \Windows\System directory for unused .dll files. It will move these dll's to a temp directory, and the user may delete these files to reclaim disk space. It is usually a good idea to wait a while before deleting these dll's to make sure that none are needed by the system.

Microsoft RegClean

A 'phase I' registry cleaner. It will scan the registry and repair/remove any invalid keys.

Easy Cleaner

This is the 'phase II' registry cleaner. It performs an even more thourogh scan of the registry and cleans even more invalid keys from the registry.

CleanReg

The final of the 3 registry cleaners. CleanReg will clean up the remaining invalid keys from the registry. It should be run last, because each key it finds must be removed manually.

FixReg

This utility can be used to import a compressed registry file.

BO Clean v4.06

The newest version of BO Clean.

Netscape 4.7 w/Calendar

The newest release of Netscape Communicator, with Enterprise Calendaring. We are slowly migrating towards using Netscape Calendaring, so here is the full version of communicator with the calendar client.

Norton Anti-Virus 7.0 Corporate Edition

The corporate edition of NAV. This is the full installer with all install options avaliable. Access to this file is restricted to HelpDesk and Computing Support staff.

CAM UnZip

A small and free utility to unzip compressed files. Useful for unzipping the compressed files on this download page.

PuTTY

A freeware SSH client. Allows you to connect to secure servers using the SSH protocol. Will also function as a regular telnet client.

Windows 98 IP Autoconfiguration Patch

This is used to turn of the registry key that locks in an IP addres of 169.254.xxx.xxx in windows 98. This patch is only to be applied to windows 98 machines which have this IP address. If a different IP address appears, or if no IP address appears at all then this patch will not work.

Winsock2 Upgrade

This is an upgrade to Windows Sockets 2. This patch should only be applied to machines running Windows 95. Windows 98 already uses Windows Sockets 2, so applying this patch can potentially corrupt system files. If a user is experiencing TCP/IP related problems (i.e. the user obtains a valid IP address, but cannot connect to any sites), *and* is running Windows 95, then have them try the patch. If they don't meet both of these conditions, then do not apply the patch. If you have installed the patch and experience system problems, then the patch may be uninstalled by running c:\windows\ws2bakup\ws2bakup.bat.

Access License Registry Update

If a user recieves an error that their license to use MS Access has expired, or they are unable to use Access because of a licensing problem, then have them run this patch and it will correct the problem.

BO Clean Registry Patch

When BO Clean is uninstalled from a computer using Add/Remove programs, there is a registry key that remains in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run. This patch will remove that key.

Windows 98 Shutdown Patch

Fixes a bug in windows 98 where windows will not shut down properly

IOS Fix

Fixes a "IOS Device failed to initilize" error on windows boot.

3Com Etherlink III (3c509) Etherdisk

This diskette set contains the 3c5x9cfg configuration utility, as well as *all* drivers for the 3c509 ethernet card.

3com Etherlink XL 10/100 (3c905) Etherdisk

Same as the 3c509 etherdisk set. It has all drivers for the 3c905 nic family, as well as the configuration utility.

ATI Optiplex GX1 Video Driver

The video drivers for all Dell Optiplex GX1 computers.
