Windows 95 Version Information
There are three different versions of Windows 95 avaliable, and each
version is unique and not interchangable with the others. Before
installing components from a Windows CD, be sure to check the version of
the CD versus the version installed to eliminate possible problems.
To check your version of Windows:

4.00.950 or 4.00.950a | This is the original version (and OSR1). The CD will have a copyright date of (c)1981-1995. |
4.00.950B | This is known as the "B" version of Windows 95, OSR2. A "B" version CD can be distinguished by a copyright date of (c)1981-1997 |
4.00.950C | This is the newest release of Windows 95, OSR2.5. On the CD label it will say, "Windows 95 with USB support" |
