The Power of Love is GREATER than the Love of Power.

Materialism is a disease that can be cured.

You cannot change the past, but you can help make the future better.

It is patriotic to live a simple life.

Live like the earth depends on you.

Man needs to build more bridges and less walls.

Automobiles are not the answer.

More harm and terror has been done by highly educated and modern man than uncivilized man.

I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies but not the madness of people.

Tact is the knack of making a point without making an enemy.

The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

Democracy is the most vile form of government... democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention: have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property: and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.

I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.

It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.

Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.

Learned Institutions ought to be favorite objects with every free people. They throw that light over the public mind which is the best security against crafty and dangerous encroachments on the public liberty.

Liberty may be endangered by the abuse of liberty, but also by the abuse of power.

We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.

What is government itself but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be  necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.

And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed, as every past one has done, in showing that religion and Government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together

God loves everyone the same.

Did blind chance know that there was light and what was its refraction, and fit the eyes of all creatures after the most curious manner to make use of it? These and other suchlike considerations, always have, and always will prevail with mankind, to believe that there is a Being who made all things, who has all things in his power, and who is therefore to be feared.

Seek the truth because the truth will set you free.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asks eventually receives; and everyone that seeks eventually finds; and to him that knocks eventually it shall be opened.

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

The soul that has once been waked or stung, or uplifted by the desire of God, will inevitably awake to the fear of losing Him.
