Course Content:
This course covers matrices, determinants, vector spaces, linear transformations and eigenvalues and eigenvectors. It is also an introduction to ordinary differential equations covering separable, exact, and linear differential equations as well as systems of such equations.
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: MATH 236

Linear Algebra and Differential Equations. by Peterson and Sochacki (ISBN 0-201-66212-4),
Participation and Attendance: Attendance
will not be recorded but lecture and discussion attendance and participation are both expected and highly recommended. Quizzes will be given at the beginning of class on Mondays and Thursdays.
Grading: The course
grade is based on the top 10 of 11 Monday quizzes, the top 10 of 11 Thursday quizzes, the top 2 of 3 Midterms, and a
Final.

The midterms will not be cumulative in the strict sense of the
word. However, it will be necessary to know previous
material. The dates and times of the Midterms are
listed in at

Roughly, Midterm 1 will cover Chapter 1, Midterm 2 will cover 1.6 and Chapter 2, Midterm 3 will cover Chapter 3 and 4.
The Final will be cumulative and cover Chapters 1-6.
The date, time, and place of the Final is fixed by the
Registrar's Office.
Quizzes: Suggested problems will
be posted per sectionn. The quizzes on Mondays and Thursdays will cover both lecture and these suggested problems from the appropriate section(s).

Exam Policies: All exams
are closed book and close notes. No calculators or electronic
devices are allowed. Cell phones may not be used as calculators
or clocks.
Policies for Missed Exams or Quizzes:
It is the student's responsibility to notify the instructor
prior
to the exam/quiz date if there is a conflict. Because the lowest scores are dropped there will be NO late exams/quizzes allowed. If a
student misses a quiz or midterm for any reason, then that quiz or exam with be taken as the grade to be dropped.
The Final
cannot be missed.
Electronic Devices: Please
make certain that all cell phones and pagers are TURNED OFF before
lecture begins. Cell phones and pagers are disruptive to the
whole class.
