Dr. Zhang is an assistant professor in the College of Integrated Science and Engineering at James Madison University. He received B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Beijing Information Science and Technology University in 2009, and M.S degree (2012) and PhD degree (2014) in industrial engineering from Oregon State University. Currently he is the director of the Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Sustainable Systems Laboratory (A&I lab) at James Madison University. Dr. Zhang's research addresses sustainable design of product and manufacturing systems, additive manufacturing, energy planning of manufacturing systems, and life cycle engineering of industrial products and systems. He has worked with industrial partners worldwide including China, Canada Alberta, US Oregon, and Virginia. Dr. Zhang's work has been published in over 20 peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. His work has been also recognized in industrial news and professional media.
