  1. For each of the following ten examples, state whether it is Declarative (D), Interrogative (INT), Imperative (IMP), Exclamatory (EX), or Not A Sentence (NAS):
    1. Does the party start at midnight?
    2. What an innovative novel!
    3. Many people have searched for the Fountain of Youth.
    4. Run away!
    5. How odd your friend is!
    6. What chances they take.
    7. What chances did they take?
    8. Make my day.
    9. Nobody likes a gloater.
    10. Good work.
  2. Find or create a sentence that consists of just one canonical, declarative clause but that seems to contain a couple distinct phrases after the verb. Then try to create at least FOUR other synonymous declarative sentences with noncanonical sentence structure. You might look to the example handed out in class (and also now available on Bb under handouts) for inspiration, though there are other options as well. See how many you can make.
