Video - My Hometown (JMU - Harrisonburg)

Since I live in Harrisonburg, work at JMU and attend classes at JMU, I thought it fitting to do a video about the impact JMU has on my life. I incorporated the Student Success Center where my office is located, pictures of Orientation student staff, video around the SSC and the quad, and my daughter on the day of her graduation from JMU. (Created in Magisto)

Video Screencast

A video screencast can be a useful tool in training others, either online or in a classroom. Below are different examples of instructional training material that I created for LTLE classes, but also was able to use in the training of student staff in the Orientation Office at JMU. (Created and edited in MS Powerpoint and Camtasia)

Instructional Design Project Scope

Project Scope

Prior to creating the instructional design, you need to begin with the scope of the project. You first establish the problem, need and target population for the instructional design.ext, you detail the learning contract, proposed solution, goal and objectives of the project. Your project scope should also include the methods of assessing your objectives, detail about the technologies used to support the instructions, the deliverables that your project will bring about, and finally the timeline for the entire project. The timeline may be the most important, as it helps you stay on track for the project and you can evaluate if something took longer than expected.

Storyboard

Screencast Storyboard

The Storyboard is an esstential part of creating a video-screencast or an infographic. It is designed to layout the instructions in the order that the video screencast or inforgraphic will take place. The storyboards shown are partial examples on "How to change your JMU e-ID password" because this is a fairly common question that we get in the Orientation Office, and video screencast related to the One Book process instructional training used for the Orientation Office student staff. (Created with MS Word)

Motivational poster

motivational poster

Motivational posters offer a glimpse at advertising, or words of encouragement combined with a photo or photos to draw on a person's emotions and to get a desired reaction. When creating projects for class, most of the time I used what I knew - my personal life or work related task. My daughter got married this past July and what better way to make an impact than using a bride and groom on their wedding day. I initially found the motivational quote and then went through pictures and ideas until I found the perfect set. This project was created using Adobe Photoshop.

How to Make French Toast

This instructional poster is a combination of the concept mapping process, graphic design and the ADDIE model. Infographics and instructional posters give specific detail about the subject and can offer alternatives for advertising, marketing or just sharing recipes such as French Toast. (Original photos edited in Adobe Photoshop and poster created in Adobe Illustrator)
