Sections, concepts, and problems
Section 1. What is a function? Definition, notation, domain,
range, etc.
Section 2. Graphs of functions. Vertical line test,
positive/negative graphs, increasing/decreasing graphs, concave
up/down graphs, extrema, points of inflection, horizontal and vertical
asymptotes.
Section 3. Linear functions. Definition, slopes, proportions,
equations for lines, parallel and perpendicular lines.
Section 4. A basic library of functions. Algebraic,
transcendental, and piecewise functions.
Section 5. Combinations of functions. Sums, differences,
products, quotients, and compositions of functions.
Section 6. Transformations and symmetry. Translations,
contractions, stretches, and reflections of functions; even and odd
functions and what they have to do with symmetry.
Section 7. Inverse functions. One-to-one functions, inverse
functions, their properties and how to find them.
