HTML Email: Farenheit 451
The purpose of the email is to inspire the purchase of unsold tickets a couple of weeks before the event. The announcement will be sent only to mailing list subscribers. It must be exciting and needs to be read both with or without images. It allows people to be able to click on a privacy link and be immediately informed that their emails are not being sold and that they can unsubscribe to the mailing list if they wish. Also, can go directly to a place online to purchase tickets.
I chose to create my email based on the Aquila Theatre's performance of Fahrenheit 451. Since the performance is taken from Ray Bradbury's classic novel, I wanted to make the overall feel simple and slightly vintage with a modern twist.
I kept the layout very clean using a single justified row of type. I also maintained clarity by keeping a visual heirarchy. The show's title and who is performing are the first things you see, leading down to final information where to buy tickets. Since emails should only require a quick scan, in order to maintain effectiveness, I kept typography and imagery simple. I chose to stick to a very limited color palette. Using warm colors in contrast to black, gives a reminiscent feel of themes shown in the story. By keeping my design simplefied, I hope to achieve a exciting and updated look.
