From dragon sketches that began in 2007, the poplar top is carved to DragonLife in April 2012. A concept from the year 2000 is now reality. A lot more will happen to this top before he's complete. See this work and more on Facebook, too.

DragonHart walks the top of a semi-hollow electric guitar. Still under construction with the poplar top now ready for the next steps. Yes, like any newborn, he will be cleaned up as time goes by. Not shown is a complete draft of the DragonHart carving...several extra days of effort...just to do the job right! The draft will also be used for testing other things, especially finishing products.
DragonHart is smaller than the traditional arch top. The lower bout is just a little bigger than a classical guitar. The upper bout slimmed with double violin corners for access to the highest frets. He will be easier to tote around and Papa has great expectations for both sound and action in the mid and high ranges. Lots of consideration also being given to make sure that we also get a bang out of the bass end.
DragonHart is ready to be removed from this workboard for a check on thickness and to remove the hold-down tabs so his upper bouts may be finished.
To better understand DragonHart, see the design behind him. Design transfer to the wood was yet another challenge to figure out. Baking parchment paper was a big help. It is a lot like tracing paper and erases well, too.
